Nurse of the Year

  1. Finalists in the Nurse of the Year category will be invited to attend the HESTA Australian Nursing Awards gala dinner in Melbourne on Thursday 12 May 2011, where the Nurse of the Year will receive a $5,000 travel voucher and $5,000 towards futher education.
  2. All prizes will be awarded on the condition the finalists and winner agree to accept the prizes in person at the HESTA Australian Nursing Awards gala dinner on Thursday 12 May 2011 in Melbourne at Palladium Rooms A and B Crown Towers Hotel & Casino, 8 Whiteman Street, Southbank, 3006.
  3. The prize includes 1 x economy class airfare to Melbourne from the finalists' nearest capital city, 2 x tickets to attend the HESTA Australian Nursing Awards gala dinner to be held on Thursday 12 May 2011, and 1 night’s accommodation in a Standard King Room at Crown Promenade Hotel. All transfers to and from airports will be at the finalists' expense.
  4. Each finalist in the Nurse of the Year category will be presented with an award in recognition of their achievement. The winner will be chosen from the finalists and announced at the HESTA Australian Nursing Awards gala dinner on Thursday 12 May 2011. The overall winner will be presented with an award in recognition of their achievement, together with a $5,000 travel voucher and $5,000 towards futher education in a HESTA - approved course.
  5. The prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash.
  6. The finalists and winner will be notified by phone and post, between 1 April 2011 and 25 April 2011, by a representative of HESTA Super Fund and their details will be released to the media on Wednesday 5 May 2011.
  7. HESTA Super Fund and the HESTA Australian Nursing Awards reserve the right to use any entries, photographs, media and / or articles of the finalists and winners of this award for promotional purposes. HESTA Super Fund will contact the intended finalists / winners to obtain their approval to use any entries, photographs, media and / or articles for future promotional, marketing and publicity purposes in any media with or without any further reference, payment or other compensation to the finalists / winner.
  8. Finalists in the Nurse of the Year category must be an individual nurse (either registered or enrolled), or midwife holding a current practising certificate with the Nursing Board / Council in their State or Territory (this covers most nurses). Personal Care Attendants (PCAs) working in aged care facilities may also be nominated.
  9. The acts / achievements described in the nomination must have taken place between 1 January 2010 to 28 February 2011 for the nurse to be deemed eligible.
  10. Finalists and nominators must agree to be contacted by a representative of the HESTA Australian Nursing Awards to verify any information submitted and the eligibility of the nominee.
  11. The Judging Panel’s decision is final and made at its sole and complete discretion. No correspondence will be entered into. The Judging Panel and organisers of the HESTA Australian Nursing Awards retain full discretion in the awarding of prizes.

Innovation in Nursing

  1. Finalists in the Innovation in Nursing category will be invited to attend the HESTA Australian Nursing Awards gala dinner in Melbourne on Thursday 12 May 2011, where the overall winner will receive $10,000 towards further developing their innovative product, service or process. In the event the finalist is a team, the identified team leader will accept the prize on behalf of the team.
  2. All prizes will be awarded on the condition the finalists and winner agree to accept their awards in person at the HESTA Australian Nursing Awards gala dinner on Thursday 12 May 2011 in Melbourne at Palladium Rooms A and B Crown Towers Hotel & Casino, 8 Whiteman Street, Southbank, 3006.

  9. The product, service or process detailed in the submission must have been initiated or implemented in 2010 to be eligible.
  10. Finalists and nominators must agree to be contacted by a representative of the HESTA Australian Nursing Awards to verify any information submitted and the eligibility of the nominee.
  11. The Judging Panel’s decision is final and made at its sole and complete discretion. No correspondence will be entered into. The Judging Panel and organisers of the HESTA Australian Nursing Awards retain full discretion in the awarding of prizes.

Graduate Nurse of the Year

Finalists' must hold an undergraduate nursing degree from a registered institution and must have been undertaking or have completed their graduate program (either full or part-time) in 2010 in order to be eligible and may be asked by a representative of the HESTA Australian Nursing Awards to verify qualifications.
  10. Nominators and finalists must agree to be contacted by a representative of the HESTA Australian Nursing Awards to verify any information submitted and the eligibility of the nominee.
